Introduction

American Samoa is the south pacific Polynesian paradise of the United States! American Samoa became one of the six territories of the United States in 1904 and is the only U.S. jurisdiction that lies south of the equator. The territory is a collection of seven islands – five major volcanic islands and two coral atolls. The islands are 2,500 miles south-southwest of Hawaii and 1,800 miles north-northeast of New Zealand. The largest island is Tutuila, which contains the historic capital of Pago Pago.

American Samoa offers the best beaches, the most spectacular scenery and a multitude of cultural and historical attractions. The most important archaeological sites are found on the three outer islands of the Manu'a group, about 60 miles from Tutuila.

Whether you dive a guided tour through the national marine sanctuary in Fagatele Bay, visit one of the largest tuna processing plants, or explore village life on the island of Aunu’u, your sure to have a wonderful experience!
