Introduction
Restaurant prices are for a main course at dinner, excluding sales tax of 7%-8% (depending on location). American, Italian, and Mexican fare are common in the Gold Country, but chefs also prepare ambitious continental, French, and California cuisine. Grass Valley's meat- and vegetable-stuffed pasties, introduced by 19th-century gold miners from Cornwall, are one of the region's more unusual treats.
