Redding offers three primary theater venues, from a 2,000 seat Performing Arts Center to a beautifully restored 1930s Vaudeville theater, to an intimate and sometimes interactive Playhouse. The 2,000 seat Redding Convention & Performing Arts Center features the annual Broadway in Redding series, as well as popular rock, country, and Christian artists throughout the year. The Cascade Theatre in downtown Redding is a must-see attraction as well as a top-notch performing arts venue featuring the annual Jefferson Public Radio Performance Series, a variety of community events, and classic film events. The theater has been restored to original, including the exterior frieze depicting northern California’s resources, the great neon sign rising from the top of the marquee to the top of the building, and the amazing murals on the ceiling inside the theater. Finally, the Riverfront Playhouse--soon to be relocated to downtown Redding--is a small 90 seat venue that features local talent in a variety of quarterly plays. The proximity to the tiny stage coupled with the Broadway style sets offers a fun, intimate, unique entertainment experience.
