Days 1-3
Spend your first three days as you would in the four-day itinerary, but stay the third night in Islamorada. In the morning catch a boat, or rent a kayak to paddle to Lignumvitae Key Botanical State Park, before making the one-hour drive to Marathon.
Day 4
Visit the natural-history museum that's part of the Museums and Nature Center of Crane Point Hammock and walk or take a train across the Old Seven Mile Bridge to Pigeon Key.
Day 5
The next stop is just 10 mi away at Bahia Honda State Park, on Bahia Honda Key. Take a walk on a wilderness trail, go snorkeling on an offshore reef, wriggle your toes in the beach's soft sand, and spend the night in a waterfront cabin, letting the waves lull you to sleep.
Day 6
Your sixth day starts with either a half day of fabulous snorkeling or diving at Looe Key Reef or a visit to the National Key Deer Refuge, on Big Pine Key. Then continue on to Key West, and get in a little sightseeing before watching the sunset.
Day 7
The next morning take a walking, bicycling, or trolley tour of town or catch a ferry or seaplane to Dry Tortugas National Park before heading home.
