Augusta Itineraries

  • Weekend Getaway

Day 1

Morning

  • Begin at the Visitors Information Center to see all Augusta has to offer, purchase a gallery pass for discounts to 8 museums, and get all your questions answered
  • Tour President Woodrow Wilson’s Boyhood Home

Afternoon

  • Grab a bite to eat downtown at one of the many local eateries including Boll Weevil Café, Café 209, or Blue Sky Kitchen
  • After lunch head over to the Augusta Canal to catch the 1:30 p.m. hour boat ride along the Augusta Canal.
  • If you have the family with you, head to Fort Discovery’s National Science Center to experience the adventures in math, science, and technology.; or stroll along Artists Row to see the art galleries and unique antiques. After Fort Discovery walk along the Riverwalk to the Morris Museum of Art.

Evening

  • Augusta offers many dinner options.

Day 2

Morning

  • Begin at the Augusta Museum of History, which details Augusta’s story and features special exhibits honoring the legacy of the Masters and a memorial tribute to James Brown

Afternoon

  • Eat some good southern food at Café 209.
  • Take a couple of downtown tours: Ezekiel Harris House, Meadow Garden Home of George Walton, and Lucy Craft Laney’s Museum of Black History

Evening

  • Get ready to cheer on the Green Jackets for the big game at Lake Olmstead Stadium. If sports isn’t your thing: a sunset boat ride, attend an Augusta Symphony Concert, or a show at the Imperial Theatre or the Le Chat Noir theater.

Day 3

Morning

  • Take the morning to relax at Phinizy Swamp Nature Park along the observance trails or play a round of golf at one of Augusta’s public golf courses. If staying on a Sunday, enjoy a wonderful brunch at the Partridge Inn.

Afternoon

  • If you have not yet tried TakoSushi or French Market Grille, head over to Surrey Center for lunch, afterwards enjoy some unique shops in Surrey Center.
  • Visit some of the attractions you weren’t able to see; Ezekiel Harris House, Meadow Garden Home of George Walton, and Lucy Craft Laney’s Museum of Black History.
  • Take an afternoon to play on Augusta’s Riverwalk and stop at the Riverwalk Marina to rent boats or jet skis to take out on the Savannah River

Evening

  • If you are in the mood for a light meal head to Bee’s Knees for tapas or to Luigi’s for the full Italian experience; or head to Fort Gordon for a fun night at the dinner theatre
  • Wind down the night by visiting Boll Weevil Café and Sweetery for a sweet treat or go out with a bang on your last night by starting the night off at Stillwater Taproom for live music and entertainment
