When to Go to Oahu

There's a reason why Hawai'i's most-watched TV news show doesn't have a weather forecaster. Weather here is blissfully predictable: Mid to low 80s, morning showers at high elevations and in misty valleys, trade winds 5 to 15 miles per hour. The only reason anyone listens to the weather is to find out if the surf is up (especially in winter) and when low tide will be (for fishing).

Timing is Everything
When to visit? Winter is whales (November through March) and waves (surf competitions December through February). In fall, the Aloha Festivals celebrate island culture in September. In summer, the Islands honor the king who made them a nation, Kamehameha I, on June 11, with parades and events on all islands. O'ahu's one-of-a-kind Pan Pacific Festival backs up to the Kamehameha Day, bringing together hundreds of performers from Japan's seasonal celebrations.
