Historic Buildings & Homes

Day 1: Historic Colonial Homes

Explore Annapolis' American history and rich maritime heritage. Annapolis has more surviving 18th-century buildings than any other city in America.

Visit the beautiful, historic homes of 3 of Annapolis’ signers of the Declaration of Independence:

 The William Paca House & Garden
 The Charles Carroll House
 The Chase-Lloyd House

Finally, visit the Hammond-Harwood House, the finest example of five-part Georgian architecture in colonial America.

Day 2: Historic Buildings

Explore Annapolis' past by touring historic buildings. Check out the Maryland State House, the oldest statehouse in continuous legislative use in the country.

Then see the U.S. Naval Academy Chapel, with its landmark dome. The Chapel also houses the tomb of John Paul Jones, America's naval hero.

Your final stop should be The Benson-Hammond House. This authentic 19th-century farmhouse is home to the Anne Arundel County Historical Society.

Day 3: Maritime Villages

Maritime villages such as Deale, Galesville, and Mayo invite you to escape to a simpler time. Visit the Captain Salem Avery House Museum in Shady Side for a taste of 19th-century life.

Finally, stop by the 23-acre Historic London Town & Gardens in Edgewater, home to the largest ongoing archaeological dig in Maryland.
