When to Go to Bloomington

It is often said in Minnesota that if you do not like the weather now, wait five minutes. Being in the center of the Upper Midwest, Minnesota can experience some of the widest varieties of weather possible and one never can guess what that weather will be like. At least in Minnesota someone can tell when each of the four season starts and stops, typically when the flip flops and shorts are broken out in March on our first 40 degree day!

Spring is the time of major transition for Minnesota, the grass and residents start appearing as the weather turns. The sun is warm and temperatures moderate as the days get longer. Summer is delightful in the land of 10,000 Lakes! There is no shortage of heat and humidity here, which makes being by water or on a patio delightful. Summer high temperatures range in the 70’s and 80’s and thunderstorms are prevalent throughout the season.

Fall is nothing short of breath taking. The leaves turn shades of orange, yellow and red, making the area one of the best places to see fall colors. Days are warm and nights are crisp.

During the “winter” months in Minnesota, typically mid November through March, temperatures are typically below freezing, which does not deter the “hearty” Minnesotan from taking in all the activities that the winter brings like ice fishing, snow mobiling, skiing, ice skating and the annual St. Paul Winter Carnival. Snowstorms and wind chills are constant occurrences during these months, so pack your mukluks and mittens!

With a bevy of activities to partake in during our four seasons, there is no bad time to come and visit us, just ask the residents!
