Introduction
Although Minnesotans are known for the culinary traditions of their Scandinavian and German ancestors, the growing immigrant population is introducing ethnic food to the Twin Cities' cuisine. In downtown Minneapolis, you'll find many restaurants lining Nicollet Avenue. The Warehouse District, northwest of downtown, is the center of the city's dining and entertainment scene. Uptown Minneapolis is southwest of downtown Minneapolis, and its main street, Hennepin Avenue, is lined with restaurants, bars, and coffeehouses. In St. Paul, Grand Avenue features many cozy cafés and restaurants. The West Side is known for its variety of ethnic restaurants and food markets.
