Kansas City Itineraries

Here in the Heart of America, family is important — and so is family fun! The choices of things to do range from creative and educational activities to leisure events to just downright craziness, all as unique as your family. Indoors and out, no matter what the weather, Kansas City will create memories your family will recall with a smile for years to come.

Outdoor Adventures

Worlds of Fun/Oceans of Fun

A day could easily be spent at each these outdoor amusement parks, no matter what the age of your children. Worlds of Fun has more than 50 rides and attractions, but is best known for the 12-story tall roller coaster we call the Boomerang. Oceans of Fun is the largest water park in the Midwest that includes everything from slides and wave pools to kayaking and sunning. The two parks cover 235 acres and including camping and picnicking facilities. A discounted one-day admission to both parks is available.

Kansas City Chiefs

A Kansas City Chiefs game isn’t just a game, it’s an experience. From the moment you arrive early to the stadium with your grills, you’ve joined one of the largest tailgating parties in football. And once the game starts, hold on, because you’re in one of the loudest stadiums in the NFL.

Indoor Explorations

Kaleidoscope

Designed to stir the creativity of children, Kaleidoscope’s stimulating environment, along with an endless supply of colored paper, crayons, glue, yarn, stickers and more, encourages children to go wild and explore their own sense of creative expression. Family sessions are held on Saturdays.

Science City at Union Station

One of the many family attractions inside Union Station, Science City includes numerous interactive learning stations that allow children to dig fossils and come face-to-face with prehistoric creatures that lived in this area more than 65 million years ago. A newsroom, a crime lab and a medical center encourage children to explore the science and technology that contribute to our daily lives.

Puppetry Arts Institute

Using the molds of Hazelle Rollins, one of the world’s premier puppeteers, who worked in Kansas City for 30 years, the Puppetry Arts Institute allows children to make their own puppets and then put on a show in the adjacent theater. Another room explores the countries of the world via puppets.

Harley-Davidson Final Assembly Plant

This plant produces Harley-Davidson’s Sportster, Dyna Glide and V-Rod families of motorcycles from fabrication and finishing through final assembly. Your visit includes an introductory film, a tour of the factory floor and the chance to sit on current production motorcycles.

Negro Leagues Baseball Museum

This museum in the historic 18th & Vine District re-creates the look, sounds and feel of Negro Leagues Baseball. Videos presentations, exhibits and memorabilia chronicle the history and heroes of the leagues from their origin after the Civil War, to their demise in the 1960s.
