Why not start your tour of the Erie Canal off by visiting the New York State Erie Canal Museum at Locks 34 and 35. Memorabilia of the early days are housed in this former Barge Canal powerhouse. Cruise through the locks while aboard the Lockport Locks and Erie Canal Cruises and experience being raised and lowered 50 feet in the only double set of locks on the canal. Nestled along the Erie Canal, the Lockport Cave and Underground Boat Ride is a unique and mysterious experience. Lockport is the location of the famous “Flight of Five” double locks allowing boasts to travel up in one set while boats traveled down in the other (pulled by a mule and her name was Sal). If you are traveling by boat, wind your way to Gateway Harbor Park which is at the foot of the Erie Canal in North Tonawanda.
