Online Traveler Community
If you would like to participate in our online traveler community and share your comments (referred to on the Web site as “stories”) and photos regarding your travel experiences within the United States, we will ask you to create a display/user name and password and provide your email address. Additionally, if you choose to create a “profile” within the online travel community, you may provide us with your city and country of residence, favorite U.S. destination and tell us a little about yourself. “Profile” information is not required to participate in the online traveler community. Emails/Newsletters
It is our intention to only send you email communications that you want to receive. Travel Planning & Reservations Services
To provide you with a method to research and book travel online, we have entered into an agreement with World Choice Travel, a division of Travelocity. If you desire to research and/or book travel through World Choice Travel you will be linked to a DiscoverAmerica.com-branded Web site that is hosted by World Choice Travel. If you choose to book travel, it is necessary for you to provide personally identifiable information to execute the purchase. This information is then provided to the suppliers (e.g., airlines) for processing. We have entered into contracts with World Choice Travel requiring that they secure your personally identifiable information as well as use it only to execute the transactions you request. World Choice Travel uses SSL on pages where you would enter personally identifiable information. SSL ensures that your information is encrypted as it travels over the Internet. This secure mode (SSL) is enabled before any such information is transmitted from your computer. You will know you are in secure mode when the padlock or key icon appears on your computer screen in the locked position. In addition, when accessing a secure server, the first characters of the site address will change from "http" to "https." Disclosure of Information to Third Parties
In addition to the travel-related services, DiscoverAmerica.com uses the services of third parties, such as interactive marketing agencies, market researchers and email service providers to assist us with marketing and promoting the Web site. These parties are contractually prohibited from using personally identifiable information for any purpose other than for the purpose DiscoverAmerica.com specifies. We do provide non-personally identifiable information to certain service providers for their use on an aggregated basis for the purpose of performing their contractual obligations to us.
