Laramie Itineraries

Day 1

Fly into Denver and have breakfast, and then it’s a two and a half hour drive to Laramie, Wyoming. Early afternoon check in at one of our hotels, motels, B & B’s or Guest Ranches and spend the rest of the day site seeing around Laramie getting to know the city. Maybe a spa treatment for the ladies in the travelling party or day passes for the family at Laramie’s Recreation Center.

Day 2

After breakfast, tour Laramie’s past elegantly displayed at the Laramie Plain Museum. This 1892 Ivinson Mansion features the splendor of the Victorian Queen Anne style. The history of Laramie and the surrounding area is also showcased with displays. This tour will last approximately an hour.

Pickup your picnics lunches by 11 am and drive a short 20 miles east of Laramie to Vedauwoo Recreation area. Find a picnic site amongst the magnificent rock formations in the Pole Mountains of the Medicine Bow National Forest to relax and take in the spirit the Arapaho Indians called “earth born”. Hiking around the area will show off unique formations and colors, flowers and wildlife. Make sure to take your camera.

Day 3

Constructed in 1872 to house federal convicts, the Wyoming Territorial Prison State Historic Site is a must see this morning. During its time, the prison held some of the West’s most notorious outlaws, including Butch Cassidy.

The rest of the day will be spent west of Laramie, a 30 mile drive, to the town of Centennial located at the foot of the Snowy Range, part of the Rocky Mountains. If fishing perks your interest, stop in at the famous West Laramie Fly store for licenses and gear. You are headed to one of the best kept fishing spots in all of Wyoming. Time your trip to be in Centennial for lunch at the Mountain View Hotel which is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places. Then it is a drive on the Snowy Range Scenic Byway to fish, hike and take in the pristine serenity of the area.
