The NBA Development League expanded to Anaheim for the 2006-2007 season with the Anaheim Arsenal based at the Arena at the Anaheim Convention Center.

Golf

World-famous golf champion, Tiger Woods, perfected his swing while growing up in Orange County, and today, the area boasts more than 40 championship courses and is recognized as “California’s Golf Coast.” Visitors can enjoy putting for par at one of the serene coastal links or taking a swing in the rolling foothills of inland OC. The closest course to The Anaheim Resort™, Anaheim Dad Miller Golf Course is also home to the new Tiger Woods Learning Center. Orange County’s only Jack Nicklaus-designed course, Aliso Viejo Golf Club features rolling fairways with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains. Monarch Beach Golf Links, located in Dana Point, is an oceanfront course with sweeping views of the South Orange County coastline. Recognized by Golf Digest as one of the best “Places to Play” with a four-star rating, Tustin Ranch Golf Club offers a classic, Ted Robinson-designed course and a top-notch PGA golf school. Black Gold Golf Club is a beautiful course in the hills of inland OC defined by its natural surroundings.

Coastal Recreation

Orange County’s 42 miles of coastline provide endless options for beach recreation, from biking the boardwalk and playing beach volleyball to riding the waves and kayaking in Newport’s Back Bay, or simply soaking up the sun on the sand. Orange County’s harbors provide access to ocean excursions, such as private boat charters, deep-sea fishing, whale watching, dinner cruises and overnight or day trips to Catalina Island from Balboa Pavilion in Newport Beach or Dana Point Harbor.

Nature Reserves & Parks

Orange County boasts 37,000 acres of parkland and open space, including state parks/beaches, regional and wilderness parks, nature preserves, and 357 miles of recreational trails. The Bolsa Chica Ecological Reserve is a 300-acre coastal wetlands sanctuary, and the Upper Newport Bay Nature Preserve hosts up to 35,000 birds during winter migration. Crystal Cove State Park features 3.5 miles of coastline and acres of undeveloped woodland. OC’s largest park is Caspers Wilderness Park in San Juan Capistrano with its 30 miles of wilderness trails.

Slightly less daring, groups can compete at Flightdeck Air Combat Center, an authentic jet fighter cockpit simulator. For speed racers, K1 Speed is the largest indoor kart racing facility on the West Coast, featuring high-speed, wheel-to-wheel, competition.
