Introduction
The official literature calls Mission Santa Barbara "Queen of the Missions for its graceful beauty." Mission Santa Barbara was the tenth of the California missions to be founded by the Spanish Franciscans. There were three adobe churches here, each larger than the other, before the present church. The colonial art collection of this mission is rich and varied nearly all were imported from Mexico and South America.
