Introduction
The State Capitol is a working museum that since 1869 has served as home to the legislative branch of state government and the Governor’s office. Guided tours, informative films, recreated historic rooms and changing exhibits give opportunities to explore the past, present and future of California’s government. Guided tours of Capitol Park are available Memorial Day (late May) through Labor Day (early September) or upon request.
