


Since 1963 the Santa Barbara Zoological Gardens has had its doors open to the public, and has continued to serve and fulfill the mission of preservation, conservation, and enhancement of the natural world through education, research, and recreation.The Santa Barbara Zoo is home to 160 species of mammals, reptiles, birds and insects, including the world famous “crooked neck” giraffe. More than 500 animals are exhibited in open, naturalistic habitats.
With its thirty acres of lush botanic gardens feature formal gardens and lawns the Santa Barbara Zoological gardens is not only a place to see animals from around the world but a wide variety of vegetation.
