If You Have Three Days

Visit Royal Gorge Country where you can spend your third day. Travel one hour southwest to Royal Gorge Bridge and Park. The bridge is the highest suspension bridge in the world; an unforgettable quarter-mile journey 1,000 feet above the Arkansas River. Enjoy lunch on one of the most scenic train rides in the world. The Royal Gorge Route Railroad takes you on a 24-mile journey through the Royal Gorge, alongside the raging Arkansas River, where you'll have the opportunity to observe Bald Eagles, Blue Heron, Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep, and Mule Deer. Based on time of year, you can opt for a “Raft & Rail” package that will take you on an exhilarating rafting trip down the Arkansas River followed by an afternoon journey on the train. Or combine rafting and horseback riding with the “Paddle & Saddle” package, offered by Echo Canyon River Expeditions. For a real western gunfight, a train ride and great shops, visit Buckskin Joe’s. On your way out of town stop at The Winery at Holy Cross Abbey. Back in Colorado Springs enjoy an elegant dinner at The Broadmoor Hotel or an authentic western Chuckwagon supper at Flying W Ranch.
