Where the Night Is Always Young

If you feel a special lilt while in New Orleans, that’s because music is in the very air you breath. Like a playful breeze through an open window, it fills your mind with fresh perspective. So inhale deeply this melodic night air, and feel the rhythm of the town that gave jazz its first breath.

Other genres of music have also found a home here, so the Big Easy makes it easy to find your scene. You’ll find a place to suit your musical tastes whatever they might be. Swing to contemporary Jazz, groove to zydeco and Cajun funk, chill to some R&B, sing hallelujah to old-time gospel or get those feet stomping to bluegrass.

The world-famous French Quarter thrives on this musical history, with high-energy nightclubs and cabarets rocking to live music – often until dawn. Local musicians can be heard nightly in staged shows or wherever there are people to listen to the clarion call of a trumpet or the beat of a drum.

Don’t miss the nightlife in New Orleans’ other neighborhoods, the Central Business District, Faubourg Marigny, the Warehouse District, Garden District and Uptown each have their own flavors of nightlife worth checking out.

Some renowned New Orleans venues to visit include Preservation Hall, Palm Court Jazz Café and Tipitina’s for traditional New Orleans Jazz; the House of Blues for Sunday gospel; Funky Pirate for cool blues; Krazy Korner for happening R&B; and the Old Opera House for a variety of acts. Other places are fun for karaoke, piano bar singalongs, Creole tunes and country music. You can even throw spares and strikes while you jam out to live music at Mid City Lanes Rock ‘n Bowl. It’s all here, so come start your party in the bayou.
