Introduction

As is true of Boston in general, the lodgings scene is a hodgepodge of old and new. Some of the city's most luxurious hotels are clustered near the Boston Common and Public Garden. These prime locations offer access to the Theater District, Chinatown, the stylish boutiques of Newbury and Boylston streets, and the Downtown Crossing shopping district. Boston's "downtown" hotels in the Theater District, the South End, Chinatown, Government Center, and the Waterfront are convenient bases for exploration. The Kenmore Square area has a distinct student vibe, but it's also convenient to several major attractions. Cozy B&Bs are your best bet in the South End.
