Introduction
Hotel prices are for a standard double room in high season, excluding 5.7% state tax and gratuities. Some inns add a 15% service charge. Accommodations on the Cape range from campsites to B&Bs to luxurious self-contained resorts offering all kinds of sporting facilities, restaurants, entertainment, services (including business services and children's programs), and all the assistance you'll ever need in making vacation arrangements.
That said, there are still plenty of overnight options throughout the region. Single-night lodgings for those just passing through can be found at countless tacky but cheap and conveniently located little roadside motels, as well as at others that are spotless and cheery yet still inexpensive, or at chain hotels at all price levels; these places often have a pool, TVs, or other amenities to keep children entertained in the evening. Bear in mind that many Cape accommodations, even simple motels, have two-, three-, and even four-night minimum stays on weekends in high season, generally from around Memorial Day through Labor Day. It's still worth checking with a property to see if you can stay for fewer days, especially if you're planning to come out for a last-minute visit, but be warned that finding a single-night accommodation on a June, July, or August weekend can prove extremely challenging. Families may want to consider condominiums, cottages, and efficiencies, which offer more space; living areas; kitchens; and sometimes laundry facilities, children's play areas, or children's programs.
