With so much to do on the Currituck Outer Banks, any time can be the perfect time to visit.
Summer, with its warm breezes, soft sand and perfect ocean temperature, is, of course, the most popular time to come to the Currituck Outer Banks. Visitors who are planning on coming to the northern Outer Banks in June, July and August will want to arrange their vacation a few months in advance to make sure they have the accommodations and amenities they desire.
Although summer is certainly family vacation time on the Outer Banks, late spring and early fall are spectacular times of the year, and retirees, couples with preschool children or anyone looking for a relaxing getaway may wish to visit in May or September. The pace of life slows and not as many businesses are open in late autumn and winter on the Outer Banks, but for many couples the less hectic time of year is perfect for regenerating the spirit.
Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays have become family gathering times for thousands of our visitors. Cool weather, friends and family and beautiful scenery seem to come together to create the ideal setting for holiday cheer.
Our feathered visitors return in late fall through the early spring to the fertile waters of the Currituck Sound, making Currituck County one of the most spectacular bird watching sites in the world. Dress warmly and bring your camera.
