Discover the newest addition to the skyline, the new Arthur Ravenel Bridge that connects Charleston with Mt. Pleasant and the East Cooper area. The bridge is not only your portal to area adventure, but also an attraction in itself. People from all over enjoy walking and biking the longest cable-stayed bridge in the nation absorbing majestic views of the Charleston Harbor, historic skyline and peninsula. Enjoy wide island beaches, waterfront restaurants, historic sites, attractions and shopping galore in Towne Centre in Mount Pleasant, Sullivan’s Island and the Isle of Palms. Map your visit at the Mount Pleasant/Isle of Palms Visitor Center, located at 311 Johnnie Dodds Boulevard.

Tour the World War II aircraft carrier Yorktown and the Congressional Medal of Honor Museum. Other “can’t miss” attractions East of the Cooper include Boone Hall Plantation, site of the Lowcountry Oyster Festival and the Taste of Charleston, Charles Pinckney National Historic Site and Fort Moultrie on Sullivan’s Island.

Bring a bathing suit for the slip-sliding water park at Palmetto Islands County Park. Build sandcastles and collect seashells on the public beaches on Sullivan’s Island and Isle of Palms. Wild Dunes Resort, at the northern end of the Isle of Palms, is known for its golf, tennis, recreational programs and meeting facilities.

For dinner with a view, watch the sunset and the returning shrimp and fishing boat fleets from one of the restaurants that line scenic Shem Creek in Mount Pleasant’s Old Village.
